The Friends of the Brogdale Horticultural Trust (BHT) have amended their constitution to say that they only supported BHT while it ‘pursued its aims at Brogdale’.
As a result a group of friends have formed a new group, the Guardians of the National Fruit Collections at Brogdale Farm, to campaign for the collections to stay at Brogdale and form a further friends group for all fruit lovers.
RHS Fruit Group chairman Gerald Edwards expressed confidence that the owners of the farm, Hillreed Land, have the interest of the National Fruit Collection at Brogdale at heart.
The friends voted by 42 to 14 that they would only support the Trust while it remained with the collections at Brogdale.
