Export sales executive at French marketer-exporter Blue Whale, Bobby Barton, has raised €3,431 (£2,687) for Leukaemia Care, on behalf of whom he is running the London marathon.
Barton, who worked at French apple supplier Valdiloire before it merged with Blue Whale, has so far received almost 50 donations from wholesalers and fresh produce suppliers on both sides of the Channel.
He has a target of €4,000 (£3,140), ahead of the race on 26 April of this year.
“I chose this charity as I have a member of my family affected by this type of cancer, so taking on this marathon means a lot to me,” said Barton. “For this marathon there will be a lot of sacrifices, a lot of miles and hopefully a lot of money raised. I also enjoy running so running to help others makes perfect sense.
“Your money can make a real difference to those affected whether it be for financial support, life-saving drugs or perhaps destined for research to cure this type of blood cancer.”
Donations to Barton’s fundraising target can be made at his Just Giving page online.
Leukaemia Care is a national blood cancer support charity that supports all those who have been affected by a blood or lymphatic cancer diagnosis, including patients, carers and families.
