‘Get Set Supply!’ aims to give small businesses a foothold in wholesale food supply
Foodservice supplier Brakes has launched the second round of its ‘Get Set Supply!’ programme, which is designed to help small businesses break into the wholesale market.
Following the completion of the first round of presentations, Brakes said it will reveal the companies selected from the initial wave in the new year.
Applications for the next round are now open. After an online application process, around 12 shortlisted companies will be invited to attend a quarterly innovation session, where they will showcase their products to key procurement contacts and customers.
Successful suppliers will then have their products listed and receive tailored support to grow within Brakes, including sales presentations, sampling opportunities, and promotional activities.
Other aspects of the comprehensive support package offered to the small suppliers include mentoring from experienced Brakes colleagues and established suppliers, as well as guidance on driving sales through the UK’s largest foodservice wholesaler.
Brakes has also committed to training its merchandising team to provide dedicated support to food producers joining the programme.
Paul Nieduszynski, CEO of Sysco GB, said: “Get Set Supply! is all about creating opportunities for smaller suppliers and helping them thrive in the wholesale market. By providing mentoring, exposure, and practical support, we’re creating opportunities for innovation and diversity in our supply chain – which ultimately benefits our customers and the industry as a whole.”
