Calendar includes conferences on carrots, onions and herbs, as well as demo days for carrots, leeks and weeding

British Growers has announced its events programme for the next 12 months, featuring conferences and demo days aimed at producers of carrots, onions, leeks, herbs, and more.

The trade association’s calendar kicks off with the British Herbs Conference on 3 March and concludes with the Leek Growers Association Agronomy Day in February 2024.

Friday 3 March 2023: British Herbs Conference

The British Herbs Conference returns in March and is being held at the University of Warwick. For more information, contact holly.jones@britishgrowers.org. Conference tickets and pre-conference dinner tickets can be booked here

Saturday 6 May 2023: CIH Young Horticulturalist of the Year Grand Final

The 2023 final of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture’s Young Horticulturalist of the Year will be held at Emmanuel College, Cambridge. It will consist of questions covering all sections of horticulture. The winner receives the £2,500 Percy Thrower Travel Bursary, provided by the Shropshire Horticultural Society & the Percy Thrower Trust, to fund a horticultural trip anywhere in the world. Second place goes home with £950, third with £550, and the rest of the runners-up all receive £200, to be used in any way they wish. For more information, contact cih@horticulture.org.uk.

Wednesday 21 June 2023: BLSA Weeding Tech Demo Day

Hosted by PDM Produce in Shropshire. Entry is free of charge and refreshments will be provided. Details for booking will be released shortly. Please contact holly.jones@britishgrowers.org for more information.

Monday 2 October-Thursday 5 October 2023: International Carrot and Other Apiaceae Symposium

The prestigious industry event is coming to the UK in 2023 and will be hosted at York Racecourse. Information on sponsorship, exhibiting and attending can be found on the website or contact pauline.sutton@britishgrowers.org.

Thursday 5 October 2023: British Carrot Growers Association Annual Demonstration Day

Hosted by Huntapac in York, this popular event is returning in 2023. There will be variety trials and an exhibition area, as well as refreshments provided throughout the day.
