Former Brogdale director Dr David Pennell has returned as a new tenant in a bid to expand his consultancy business.

Pennell has taken over some of the disused Brogdale glasshouses for his fruit growing consultancy, Ellis Pennell, which he started up 18 months ago. The glasshouses are currently being overhauled and updated with new technology.

Pennell explained that he required specialist facilities and glasshouses in order to expand his business, as he needs to run horticultural trials for clients testing propagation techniques including hydroponics systems.

Brogdale Farm landowner Tony Hillier has also announced that he is creating a new marketplace area with rural business units available to rent. The retail outlets would be let to complementary businesses, such as those using fruit and local produce to create food products for instance.
