The Capespan Group has concluded a 10-year marketing and management agreement with the National Youth Service (NYS) to manage the Namibia Grape Company (NGC), as part of a skills transfer process.

The Namibian ministry of lands and resettlement transferred NGC to the NYS to administer as part of its asset portfolio.

Capespan Namibia has now been formed in collaboration with Namibian entrepreneur and businessman John Endjala of the J&P Group.

Capespan has already returned the NGC farm, in the south of the country, to profitability. The parties will continue investing at least N$2 million (£155,374) a year on capital projects to ensure that this grape farm is fully developed after 10 years.

A social development trust also has been established to focus on the social needs of the Aussenkehr community and NGC employees, many of which come from the area. Each party will contribute N$500,000 to the trust annually.

John Endjala, chairman of Capespan Namibia, said: “Our vision is to grow this company. Thus, we will be looking to invest further in Namibian produce farming opportunities, which should create much-needed jobs and generate foreign income.”
