Norfolk fruit farming and ingredients supplier Place UK has appointed joint managing directors for the first time in its 72-year history.

Linda Evans and Matt Smith began their new roles on 12 March, stepping up from commercial director and finance director respectively. Evans will lead on commercial, people and culture as co-MD, with Smith overseeing finance, IT and operations.

Smith said: “We have an exceptional team at Place UK, and I am delighted to take on this new role with Linda. We share the belief that our people are our most important asset, and we’re looking forward to empowering colleagues to continue delivering an exceptional range of products and services to our customers”.

Evans added: “I’m looking forward to jointly leading this ambitious family-founded business as it continues a high growth trajectory.”

Founded in 1954 by John Place, Place UK started out growing fruit for jam, yoghurt, ice cream and dessert manufacturers. Today, it is a major grower and processor of premium strawberries, raspberries, cherries, blackberries and British-grown rhubarb.

An on-site processing and packing facility, including IQF capabilities, supplies end-to-end ingredients solutions, including fruits, pulses, grains, rice, and beans to large food industry customers.
