Alf Donovan, a member of the fresh produce distribution industry for 54 years has died, aged 83.
Alf joined LEP Transport in 1934, taking up a position in the transport office at Sunlight Wharf at the age of 14.
Former colleague Peter Pallet, of HPL Sea Freight Ltd, said: “Alf then became manager of the perishable import department of European and General Express, responsible for the operations at Bishopsgate and Hither Green Continental Rail depots, until his retirement in 1988.
“He will be sadly missed as a friend and a colleague.”
