EFFP is offering north western growers an invite to its ‘Share to Supply’ North West event, which aims to bring growers and the public sector closer together in support of locally-sourced produce.

The event has been designed to demonstrate how working in partnership with others across the food chain can increase the number of opportunities to supply the public sector, by increasing the ability to supply the quality, consistency and security of supply required, according to EFFP.

The event will showcase of a number of working examples of producers and growers who are already successfully collaborating with each other. It also aims to provide an understanding of supplying the public sector, and give an opportunity to speak directly to regional buyers, distributors, manufacturers and processors.

Speakers will include Jeanette Orrey (‘The Dinner Lady Who Started it All’), Graham Lewis from Cumbria County Council and Jenny Morse from Food Northwest. It will be held on June 28.

The UK public procurement of food is said to be worth approximately £2 billion per year.
