British Growers has announced that independent seed specialist Elsoms has joined its Partnership Scheme, bringing with it extensive knowledge, technical expertise, and experience across vegetable breeding, seed innovation and the wider horticultural sector.

The businesses will reportedly work together on a range of activities, including industry engagement, thought leadership, webinars, interviews, events and opportunities to contribute to discussions on the key issues affecting UK horticulture.

“The partnership will create opportunities for Elsoms to engage more closely with the British Growers network, while providing British Growers members and industry contacts with access to specialist knowledge and insight from across the Elsoms team,” British Growers stated.

An important tenet of the partnership is to ensure Elsoms’ expertise is accessible across the British Growers network.

John Walgate, chief executive of British Growers, commented: “The purpose of the scheme is to bring our industry closer to organisations that can provide genuine expertise, insight and leadership, and Elsoms is a very strong example of that. They already have an important voice within the seed sector, and, through this partnership, we want to create further opportunities for their team to contribute to the wider conversations shaping horticulture.

“It will also give us the opportunity to bring Elsoms’ knowledge directly into our network, whether through webinars, events, industry discussions or engagement with growers and sector leaders.”

Instead of operating as a traditional sponsorship programme, each partnership is supported by a 12-month activity plan tailored to the partner’s expertise, priorities and opportunities to add value to the British Growers network.

The partnership also offers the chance of regular strategic engagement between senior representatives from British Growers and Elsoms, helping to identify emerging industry issues and opportunities for collaboration.

David Coop, managing director at Elsoms, commented: “Supporting the British Growers Partnership Scheme reflects Elsoms’ commitment to the long-term success of UK horticulture. British Growers plays a vital role in representing growers’ interests, strengthening industry resilience and helping to secure a sustainable future for UK food production. We’re proud to work alongside an organisation that delivers such important support for the sector.”
