Last weekend saw the first arrivals of Cox apples from Enza New Zealand.

The fruit was inspected by Qualytech's technical director John Guest and quality technologist Andrew Russell, pictured, on arrival at Worldwide Fruit's Bysing Wood Road storage facility.

Worldwide Fruit's technical director Drew Reynolds, who saw the crop being picked in New Zealand, is happy with the fruit that has arrived in the UK.

'Our growers have done a good job of grading the New Zealand Cox after early concerns that russet would be a problem,' he said. 'In general the cox has a good blush, making a nice attractive appearance with a hint of russet. Fruit pressure and eating quality has also been good so we anticipate a good start to the season.'
