FareShare announced the winner of its first Top Chef Crumble Competition in London, with chef Jemma Harrison’s ‘mince pie’ apple and blackberry crumble coming out on top

This week, FareShare kicked off its Berry Crumply Christmas campaign in the UK, alongside British Berry Growers and Driscoll’s, with its first ever Top Chef Crumble Competition at Dovetale restaurant in London’s Mayfair.
Tom Sellers, Professor Green and Melissa Hemsley were on hand to taste and judge the entries on taste, appearance and creative flair.
According to Driscoll’s, the competition was close, with entrants from some of London’s finest chefs and food creatives, including Sam Lawrence of Lulu’s and Llewelyn’s, Jemma Harrison, Ana Da Costa, Chef Toto of the Felix Project’s Poplar Kitchen in East London, and Nick Grieves, head chef at Dovetale.
“Entries showcased berry crumbles with a twist, from a strawberry and coconut filling with pandan custard to a delicious apple and blackberry crumble with lemon and thyme,” the company said. “Ultimately, chef Jemma Harrison went home the winner with her ‘Mince Pie’ apple and blackcurrant crumble, featuring melted brown butter folded into the crust.”
The winning recipe is set to be prepared across FareShare kitchens over the Christmas period, supported by donations from British berry growers.
Driscoll’s has agreed to donate fresh berries to FareShare, the company revealed, to be turned into festive crumbles in kitchens across the charity’s UK network and delivered to charities and community groups around the country this Christmas.
“Rooted in FareShare’s Together at the Table winter campaign, the initiative highlights the power of food to bring people together,” Driscoll’s said.
