The National Farmers' Retail & Markets Association (FARMA) has launched The Month of Taste to promote UK product.

The festival, which runs from June 13 to July 19, will highlight the abundance of UK seasonal produce available such as soft fruit, salads, beans and peas, asparagus, herbs and edible flowers, as well as seasonal cheese, ice-cream and fresh fish.

Events will take place on farms, in farm shops and at farmers’ markets, and people can take part in everything from family fun days to beer festivals and wildlife walks.

A website has been launched in conjunction with the event - www.monthoftaste.info - which will feature the latest updates on crops from the farmers themselves, produce information and recipes, including buying and storage tips.

Site visitors can also search for upcoming events in their area, as well as looking for their local farm shops, farmers’ markets and pick-your-own farms.

FARMA food and projects co-ordinator Laura Waterton said: “The Month of Taste is a great way to highlight all the fabulous food and events that can be found in the UK.

"The website is a one-stop shop for anyone looking for fresh ideas this summer; from guidance on how to make the most of broad beans, to suggestions for family days out.”
