A couple from Finland have become the lucky winners of the marketing operation organised recently by Spanish co-operative Cabasc for its European retailer clients.
The operation is targeted at Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Scandinavia, where flyers were attached to flow packs of aubergines.
Consumers were invited to take part in a prize draw, collecting three vouchers enclosed in the packs and sending them to Cabasc, with the chance of winning four days in a five-star hotel in Andalusia.
The Cabasc co-op is one of the leading exporters in the Almería region. It boasts 230 member producers cultivating some 620,000 acres of land and producing almost 30,000 tonnes of export produce.
It is part of the joint export company the Unica Group, which has merged with four other major co-ops to create the largest fruit and vegetable producer in Andalusia, in terms of trading capacity and European export volumes.
Unica aims to cut costs in order to increase productivity, as well as implementing responsible and sustainable production methods, and has attracted the attention of several further companies.
