FPJ is launching a series of conferences that will move around the UK, with the first to take place in Scotland at the start of next year.

The one-day event, organised by FPJ, will take place at Perth Racecourse on February 23, 2010, and is targeted at local growers, wholesalers, foodservice suppliers, retail market traders, independent retailers, and government organisations and representatives.

FPJ editor Laura Gould said: “The theme of our first FPJ Conference is to look at how Scottish growers can reinforce their ties with the local supply chain to grow their business and provide top-quality produce to Scottish consumers.

“Despite the widespread belief that demand has never been greater for ‘local’ and ‘regional’ produce, there is no doubt that growers across the UK are still living through times of uncertainty. Our focus will be on how to foster positive relationships between growers and the non-supermarket customers of the business, as well as companies that supply this customer base,” added Gould.

FPJ’s new conference format will visit other regions of Britain over the next 12 months. Plans are in hand to hold separate FPJ Conferences in the summer, spring and winter of 2010 and to focus on similar local supply chain issues in the North West, South West and the Midlands respectively.

A full programme for the first FPJ Conference will be available shortly. To register your interest and to receive more information, please email tommy@fpj.co.uk or phone 020 7501 0306.
