Fraser Black has been appointed MD of the James Hutton Institute’s new commercial subsidiary, James Hutton Limited.
James Hutton Limited brings together the institute’s two former commercial subsidiaries Mylnefield Research Services Ltd (MRS) and Macaulay Scientific Consulting Ltd (MSC), which boast expertise in translating science into products and services that industry looks for, including analysis, research and consultancy.
The new company provides services to more than 28 countries around the world, from small and medium enterprises to large multinationals.
A graduate from Edinburgh University, Black has a successful track record of growing markets, and bringing products, solutions and services to market in the bioscience sector.
He has considerable international experience, having lived and worked across the USA, Germany and the UK for organisations such as BioCity Scotland, GE Life Sciences and Amersham Bioscience. He is also a member of the Life Science Advisory Board (LiSAB) Scotland and the Glasgow Economic Leadership (GEL) Board for Life Sciences.
