Former Christian Salvesen chief executive Stewart Oades is to be the new president of the Freight Transport Association (FTA).
Oades, who takes over from Andrew Haines in April, is the chairman of Wesupply and non-executive director of Clipper Logistics Group.
In addition to these roles, he is also a UK director of GS1, the global standards organisation, and a director and trustee of the charity Transaid.
Oades has been on the FTA board since 2007, where his depth of industry knowledge and experience has already proven to be a great asset.
Andrew Haines, logistics director at Tate & Lyle Sugars Europe, will remain on the FTA Board.
Oades has more than 30 years’ experience in the logistics industry and has operated at a senior level for Safeway Stores, Exel and Christian Salvesen, where he was responsible for its successful turnaround and sale to Groupe Norbert Dentressangle.
