Two leading UK glasshouse manufacturers are set to merge, it was announced this week.

The Cambridge Glasshouse Company and HOK Engineering will come together to form a new enterprise called Cambridge HOK. This will see HOK’s team of Venlo specialists, led by Dave Warnett, combining with Cambridge’s commercial glasshouse team.

Under the terms of the agreement Warnett will also become a director of the new business.

According to Cambridge managing director, John Holland, the sharing of resources will enable the two companies to work together more efficiently for their customers, and enable them to ‘provide the flexibility that is required in the modern market, including in house manufacturing.’

Warnett added: ““The merging of the two teams will result in stronger and more flexible whole, and Cambridge HOK will represent a formidable new force in commercial horticulture. We look forward to working together and I believe that this is an exciting development for both companies. We’re very optimistic about the future of commercial horticulture in the UK.”

For its part HOK will be disposing of its premises and its team will be moving from its current base in Keyingham, East Yorkshire to join Cambridge at its purpose built headquarters in Newport, East Yorkshire.
