Kent apple grower AC Goatham was on hand at family sports festival SportFest this weekend to provide apples for rehydration as well as entertainment.
Held at Wormsley cricket ground, in Buckinghampshire, the festival sees sporting legends coach children across various sports. This year’s lineup included rugby star Martin Johnson, football hero John Barnes, netball superleague wonderwoman Camilla Buchanan and cricketing legend Andrew Strauss.
Former England rugby star Will Greenwood was among the visitors to Goathams’ stand and tried his hand at the apple bobbing challenge.
Goatham’s commercial director, Carol Ford, said the company was “very honoured” to attend SportFest for the first time.
“At AC Goatham & Son, we believe it really important to link our products – apples and pears – in a positive way to health, vitality and children,” she said. “SportFest 2015 allowed us to do exactly that in a really positive way – having apples available for rehydration after the children underwent training with sporting legends went down really well. There was also time however to have some fun, hence the apple bobbing.'
The event, which took place on 1-2 August, included coaching, competitions, family camping and food.
