Major potato supplier Greenvale is undergoing a leadership transition period as longstanding managing director David Rankin departs the business to pursue new opportunities.

Rankin, who has been with the company for over 30 years, has been in the role of MD since 2022.

In that time, he has led the company through a period of change while strengthening its core operations, grower relationships and market position.

A focused interim leadership structure, supported by the Greenvale board, is in place to ensure continuity and maintain momentum.

In a statement, the business said it remains focused on delivering high-quality products and service, supported by ongoing investment and a clear commitment to growth as part of the Produce Investments Group.

Reflecting on his time with the business, Rankin said: “After 31 years with the business, this has not been an easy decision.

“The company has been a huge part of my life, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have worked alongside such committed and hardworking people over the years,” he continued.

“I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together. The strength of this business has always been its people, and I have no doubt that the company has a very successful future ahead.”

Director at Produce Investments, Rachel Cook-Coulson, said: “Produce Investments, Greenvale’s parent company, remains fully committed to the business and its future.

“We continue to see significant opportunity and are more invested than ever in supporting its long-term success through performance improvement, strategic investment and positioning the business for future growth.

“Greenvale has been engaging with key stakeholders and reassures customers that there will be no change to its commitment to delivering high-quality products and exceptional service. The company remains confident in its strengths and its ability to continue delivering value for growers, customers and consumers.”
