One of Yorkshire’s largest and best-known wholesalers of flowers and plants is expanding into Sheffield.

GT Flowers will open a brand new wholesale flower and plant operation on the Parkway Business Park in the city in October.

The independent, Yorkshire, family business has been supplying florists, nurseries and garden centres for more than 20 years from its Leeds premises at Cross Green Industrial Estate.

When it opens at the 17,000 sq ft premises in Sheffield, GT Flowers will become the biggest wholesale flower and plant business in South Yorkshire and provide a one-stop shop for florists from across the region.

As well as a broad range of fresh blooms delivered six days a week, GT Flowers will offer indoor and outdoor plants and florist sundries, such as pottery, glassware, ribbons and candles from the Sheffield premises which feature a purpose-built refrigerated room to ensure optimum life for fresh-cut flowers.

Daniel Thompson, director of GT Flowers, said: “It’s fantastic news for us as a company to be taking the successful formula we have in Leeds and expanding. We’ve long been supplying customers in South Yorkshire but having dedicated premises there will be much more convenient for our customers and allow us to expand our offer.

“The new, purpose-built premises will offer fantastic facilities for customers. The environment is clean and modern, all products will be fully priced up, opening hours will be longer and they will be able to buy everything they need under one roof.

“Floristry customers are frequently small independent businesses run by busy people, for whom the ease and speed of sourcing fantastic quality produce is vital. As an independent family-run company ourselves, we understand this and believe the personal approach is vital. We will always go the extra mile to meet any of our customers’ needs and have regular special offers, events and seminars designed to add value and support.”

GT Flowers is a division of Gilbert Thompson (Leeds) Ltd which has been trading since the 1920s.
