Worldwide fresh produce search engine Hairyape.co.uk has broken the barrier of 500 subscribers.

The internet portal has seen an impressive growth in membership over the past few months.

And thirty per cent of hairyape.co.uk members are based in the less developed world.

Welcoming his firm's growth, boss Martin Clifford said: 'Unilever's Niall FitzGerald mentioned in the annual City food lecture that the developed countries must open up their markets to the developing world, and with this in mind hairyape is providing the perfect vehicle to find new contacts.

'Growers and marketing organisations from all over the world are now realising that the internet is the most cost effective way of promoting both company and produce 24 hours a day.'
