The Royal Agricultural Society of England (RASE) has awarded its Sir Roland Burke Perpetual Challenge machinery trophy to engineers R J Herbert.

The trophy is handed out in recognition of a ‘sustained contribution to the potato industry. It will be presented at this year’s Royal Show from July 1-4.

Herbert’s product range includes packing, grading and washing equipment for potato packhouse installations. The company’s Rod Herbert said: “We’re particularly proud to receive an award that recognises the sustained and long-standing contribution the entire staff at Herberts have made to the industry - these are the people that drive the company and some have been with us since we started.”

Meanwhile the JCB Fastrac 8250 will receive the RASE Gold medal. Judges describe the tractor as a ‘huge leap forward’ in engineering.

In addition to the top two machinery awards, the RASE Silver medal winners will also be showcased in the machinery area of the Royal Show. The winner of the New Equipment award will be announced at the event.
