Business and industry leaders from the UK agricultural sector are being invited to attend the Higher Education Conference (HEC) to be held at Harper Adams University College in Shropshire this July.

The two-day conference will provide potential students interested in undertaking agricultural studies the opportunity to meet business representatives from companies and organisations across the sector such as the NFU.

The intake at Harper Adams University College last year defied predictions of a drop in student numbers for the food, rural and agricultural sector. The September 2003 intake was strong and applications were up by 17.4 per cent with 539 new students registering at the university college, and enrolment in degrees in agriculture increased to 111 students from 100 in 2002.

The HEC event will have career stands providing course information, talks and seminars from advisers and offers both students and employers the chance to network.
