Kent potato brand extended

Southern potato specialist The Kent Potato Company has unveiled plans to roll out its Kent potato brand into the wholesale and foodservice sectors.

The packs have received plaudits since their initial trial launch throughout the region earlier this year, sold through local Tesco stores and smaller independents.

Demand for the potatoes has been strong from both restaurants and independent retailers in and around the capital.

Group managing director Tom Binet said: “We are extremely excited by the feedback gained during the trial and it certainly shows that local is alive and well.

"It's natural that products grown in the Garden Of England would resonate well locally - however we are getting requests from restaurants and retailers a lot further afield, hence the expansion into wholesale and food service, which will aid our distribution to these outlets."
