Koppert has launched a handheld blower to allow growers to dispense natural predators over their crops.

The biological crop protection company says the Natutec Airobreez offers growers “enhanced precision, efficiency, and labour savings in distributing beneficial organisms”.

It is tailored for low to mid-tech covered environments and is suitable for any crop using biological pest control.

The blower uses a gentle airflow and Koppert product manager Maikel van Essen says “we’ve never seen our beneficial insects arrive at their destination in better condition or more evenly distributed”. Insect mortality rates are below two per cent.

He adds: “The Airobreez incorporates a double-duct system (priority patent pending in the Netherlands), ensuring uniform coverage with an effective range of up to four metres. In addition to its extremely low mortality rates, this is where the Airobreez also stands out in its competitive landscape.

“Its patented linear airflow guarantees even distribution as you move through the crop and its unique paddle dosage system allows consistent and precise dosage throughout its use.”

The closed dosage system includes 15 settings and is designed to ensure that beneficial insects are distributed as accurately as possible.

The product also allows significant labour savings. According to Koppert, growers can reduce the time spent on pest management by up to 80 per cent, allowing them to focus on other important tasks.

Van Essen also stresses how easy the Airobreez is to use. “It’s incredibly lightweight, making it easy to handle during extended use,” he says. “The two carrying modes ensure comfort and convenience. Plus, it’s designed to be easy to clean, so growers can maintain it with minimal effort, even in demanding environments.”
