LauritzenCool and NYK Reefers form partnership

LauritzenCool and NYK Reefers will form a partnership from January 1 2004, involving a tonnage sharing agreement, and NYK Reefers taking a 50 per cent share of LauritzenCool Logistics.

It is hoped the partnership will increase the ability to offer complex logistic solutions at competitive prices.

In terms of tonnage sharing each company will continue to market and negotiate their own services, however vessels out of the combined fleet will be used to optimise and further improve the service to customers.

Mathias Wideroth, managing director of LauritzenCool Logistics said that the partnership marked an important step in the development of the company.

Ceo of NYK Reefers, Fumiya Aoki added: “ The new co-operation with LauritzenCool will enable us to provide the most efficient and flexible service to our valued customers- We see more demands on logistics services for reefer cargo and NYK wishes to be a good business partner in this area.”
