Employees at Lingarden have given two local charities £600 each as part of the horticultural company's efforts to support the community.

The money, which was raised through a variety of events, included sponsorship of 14 women in the Flora Light Fun Run in London's Hyde Park, has been donated to the Growing Place in Spalding and Cottage Crafts Education and Community Services in Sutton Bridge.

Last autumn Lingarden gave the Growing Place more than 100kgs of daffodil bulbs to support its work experience programme for young people with special needs, who are unable to participate in mainstream employment.

The donation to Cottage Crafts Education and Community Services will help create a garden area including a poly-tunnel where adults and young people with physical, learning and behavioural problems will grow fruit, vegetables and other plants.
