Irish foodservice, retail and wholesale supply group Musgrave has acquired Bradford-based supplier Delifresh in a move designed to strengthen the firm’s position in premium ingredient supply.

Musgrave, which owns brands including Mace and SuperValu, was registered as an entity with significant control of Delifresh last month.

Delifresh operates five locations across the country, with a turnover of £64 million, according to its latest filed accounts.

“By bringing Delifresh into the Musgrave Group, we are adding a strong player in the fresh, chilled, and speciality products space to our portfolio,” said Stuart Campbell, managing director for Musgrave Group in Great Britain.

Musgrave has recently acquired premium ingredient suppliers including Ritter Courivaud, Town & Country Fine Foods and Italicatessen UK, with customers including high end foodservice establishments and chefs across the UK.

“This acquisition aligns with our intent to capture more market share in the premium and high-quality food sectors, as we continue to enhance our product range and geographical reach to meet growing customer demand,” said Campbell.

Winner of Foodservice Supplier of The Year at this year’s Fresh Awards, Delifresh supplies whole and prepared fruit, vegetables, and chilled products to Michelin-starred restaurants as well as the wider hospitality industry, stadiums and universities.

It has recently invested in a new flagship facility with a development kitchen and a community food element.
