Retail giant has ramped up its focus on speed with a new service delivering fruit, veg and household essentials in under 30 minutes

Online retail giant Amazon has launched a new ultra-fast delivery service that will see thousands of groceries, including fresh produce, available in 30 minutes or under.
Amazon Now is being tested in select postcodes in Southwark, south London, with plans to roll out further in the coming months.
“Amazon Now brings a new level of speed and convenience to customers, delivering thousands of groceries and household essentials in less than 30 minutes,” said Amazon’s UK country manager, John Boumphrey.
“It’s the latest example of our commitment to faster delivery, building on the millions of items we already deliver the same or next day to customers across the UK.”
The service is available through the Amazon app and website, across 35 categories including milk, eggs, fresh fruit and veg, toothpaste and pet treats.
It’s part of a continued focus on logistics and speed, Amazon said, with delivery speeds over the past few years accelerated for Prime members.
The company also notes a growing demand for its groceries and household essentials range, including beans, apples and dried apricots, with this area now representing one in three items ordered daily.
