The market has achieved press attention

Authorities are looking to breathe new life into Berwick Street markets in Soho, London.

Jonathan Glanz, cabinet member for housing and property at Westminster council, is looking to “revitalise” the central location through major infrastructure and investment including access to water and electricity for traders and providing storage for stalls.

Veteran property developer Peter Beckwith’s PMB Holdings has believed to have won the contract to work with the council on the project.

Glanz said he wants the market to be “knitted into the community” but also attract the passing tourists in the area.

Covent Garden Market Authority’s communications manager Helen Evans said: “From our perspective its all about partnership and as long as the council talks to traders and realises the market’s value in creating an identity that’s very positive.
