Asda has announced it is creating 1,200 jobs in the UK, while investing £200m in its distribution chain.

There will also be 200 jobs in a Falkirk centre, which opened last week and 500 in Skelmersdale, which is opening later this year. There are also plans for two new recycling centres in Wigan and Wakefield.

David Gibbons Asda's distribution director believes the company will revolutionise its network. The news came as Wal-Mart, the world's biggest retailer, announced a 14 per cent rise in first quarter profits.
