New look for fresh cut

Israeli firm Hefestus Ltd launched a comprehensive solution for fresh-cut fruit and vegetable packaging at Fruit Logistica, Berlin, this week.

Hefestus’ Hera - the world’s fastest packaging machine - can pack fresh products with SLB packaging (MAP) technology at a rate of 1,200 units per hour.

The SLB technology enables manufacturers to pack fresh-cut fruit and vegetables and extend their shelf life to up to 14 days. The system allows manufacturers and marketers to transport fresh-cut products to distant destinations.

Hefestus is a developer and manufacturer of top-sealing packaging machines and specialises in supplying unique and complete packaging solutions. The company provides a wide variety of standard and custom-made machines, to meet the complex packaging requirements of processors and consumers alike.

At the exhibition, Hefestus also featured a multiple packaging solution, which can increase shelf life for up to 21 days for ready-to-eat pomegranates. It is the first pomegranate technology, providing a full solution, from the whole fruit to separated arils packed in ready-to-eat trays or arils ready for juice extraction.

The company hopes to revolutionise the entire supply chain, from manufacturer to consumer.
