Bruised bananas could be a thing of the past with a Banana Saver making its way to the UK.

The plastic case, which protects the fruit from knocks and scrapes, is aimed at parents who include a banana in their children’s packed lunch and at backpackers or campers who must save space in order to carry heavy loads.

The product also comes with a built-in lollipop stick slot for making banana ice-lollies.

Mary Harris, a mother of two who invented the Banana Saver, said: “The banana is one of the top selling fruits and recent studies show consumers are demanding products that help them carry healthy foods on the go.

“I came upon the idea when I was frustrated when the bananas I packed in my son’s lunch would return home squished. He told me that it was bruised by the time he got to the cafeteria.”

Harris is looking for distributors in the UK.

The product is now available at www.bananasaver.com.
