Nisa’s Making A Difference Locally (MADL) charity donated nearly £1 million to 2,000 local and national charities throughout 2014 - a new record.
The funds are raised through a scheme which is run in Nisa stores selling specific products, and a percentage of the money goes into a virtual pot for the store to donate to a local charity or good cause within a 10 mile radius.
MADL has been successfully supporting charities for the past six years and has raised £6.2m in total. The retailer puts this year’s notable success down to a rigorous brand refresh, a reformulated website, and the appointment of a dedicated charity manager in 2014.
Kate Carroll, charity manager, said: “I am delighted with the amount MADL has donated in 2014 and the most important thing of course is that these donations will be life-changing to a variety of ultra-local causes as well as national charities.
“The great thing about MADL is that donations are spread far and wide throughout the UK, not only reaching those small ultra-local charities which rely on public support, but also national charities such as Canine Partners and Teenage Cancer Trust.
“The aim for this year is to donate even more money to even more local causes and charities, and, of course, to put a smile on the faces of all those who benefit. On top of that, we will also be spreading the word about MADL through campaigns and competitions.”
