Veg box scheme’s third tie-up with farm-made craft gin brand uses out of spec apples and imperfect fennel and lemon to capitalise on summer spritz trend

Craft gin brand Penrhos Spirits has partnered with wonky veg box scheme Oddbox on a new limited-edition summer gin using rescued apple, fennel and lemon.
The gin, which is the the third Penrhos x Oddbox tie-up, is available directly via the two brands’ websites.
CEO and co-founder of Oddbox, Emilie Vanpoperinghe, said: “This summer edition is a brilliant example of what happens when you look at rescued produce with creativity rather than compromise.
“These wonky apples, odd fennel and imperfect lemons are packed with flavour, and together they make a genuinely delicious gin. It all helps to support growers and show what’s possible when we rethink food waste.”
The new Wonky Apple and Fennel Gin uses fennel to add “a mild and savoury twist and transform the gin into true aperitif”.
“After last year’s sell out ‘Pear & Chill’ gin, we wanted to create something that was even more unusual and unique in flavour – and this certainly does that,” said Penrhos Spirits co-founder, Harriet Evans.
“Fennel is an undiscovered flavour for the gin category and something we know our customers are going to love.”
According to Bacardi’s 2025 Cocktail Trends Report, the spritz has been ranked the number one cocktail among Gen Z consumers for 2026.
In Europe, the spritz has overtaken champagne as the go-to drink for socialising, chosen by 41 per cent of respondents in Bacardi’s global consumer survey.
All Penrhos gin is made on the Herefordshire family farm.
