Spanish plums from the region of Extremadura are proving popular on the UK market. Plums are the main export for Extremadura, with production up by an average 22 per cent each year. The region is well-suited to the cultivation of stonefruit, with long hours of sunshine and a plentiful water supply producing quality fruit. Foods from Spain has included Spanish plums in its integrated promotional campaign for the first time this year, and the fruit looks set for a successful season. Anna Sbuttoni reports from Spain
