Quickshine wins innovation award

Quickshine Ltd landed the Tesco Innovation Award at last week’s World Fruit & Vegetable Show, beating off stiff competition from a number of cutting-edge products.

The Hertfordshire-based business scooped the award for its Nanotechnology Fruit & Veg Saver, which aims to prevent produce waste in the home when it is placed in a fridge drawer or fruit bowl.

The small disc uses natural ethylene-control technology and can potentially double or triple the storage life of fresh produce.

The award was presented by Edward Palmer, Tesco fresh produce category technical manager, at a ceremony last Thursday.

Quickshine scooped the award ahead of a number of strong entries from the likes of Chiquita, Evesham Specialist Packaging and Smurfit Kappa, among others.
