Smiles for Reynolds Catering Supplies

Reynolds Catering Supplies has been named MVS National Foodservice Supplier of the Year at this year’s Re:fresh Awards.

The third-generation family-owned firm, based in Waltham Cross, has grown from a market stall in the 1940s to become a leading fresh produce supplier to the UK foodservice sector, with five depots, 170 vehicles and 600 staff across the country.

The company has overhauled its business plan this year to take a fresh look at the technical challenges it faces, revamp its commercial department and focus on supply chain efficiency and ethical sourcing.

Reynolds, sources and distributes more than 3,000 product lines and this year gained Grade A British Retail Consortium accreditation.

Two MSc students from Writtle College have been welcomed into the fold to assist with environmental standards.

An anaerobic digestion plant, 550 tonnes of cardboard recycling a year and a returnable crate scheme underpin the environment-friendly initiatives. To date, nearly 9,000t of carbon dioxide have been saved and a greater emphasis on backhaul has led to a further saving of 800 miles per week in the last three months alone.

Reynolds Catering supplies beat competition from finalist Pauleys to win the gong.
