Rijk Zwaan's new facility in De Lier

Rijk Zwaan’s new production location is officially ready for business, as it has been hermetically sealed according to stringent hygiene measures.

The seed-producing nursery in De Lier, the Netherlands, is set to act as a leading example to Rijk Zwaan’s other glasshouse vegetable seed production facilities worldwide.

The new seed production facility enables the vegetable breeder to limit the risk of seed-borne diseases in tomatoes and other glasshouse edibles.

Rijk Zwaan will also start using a new production location in Mexico within the next month. This modern glasshouse nursery is a replica of the nursery in De Lier as far as facilities are concerned and, with these two new production nurseries, Rijk Zwaan expects to be able to fully comply with the most recent hygiene protocol.

The new locations in both the Netherlands and Mexico have UV disinfectors for all the reservoir and recirculation water. There are separate points of entry for goods, which are all subjected to a risk analysis, and thoroughly disinfected before they are allowed onto the nursery.
