Salads get greener

Morrisons’ salads are greener than ever, with new environmentally friendly R-Apet salad bar packs.

The supermarket says its new ‘fresh to go’ salad bar packaging, developed by Sharpak, is ‘in step with customers who are demanding more recyclable packaging and a greater emphasis on decreasing the amount of waste disposed in landfill sites’.

The hinged packs are made from over 60 percent recycled material which is taken from ‘post-consumer’ food-use approved bottles, are fully recyclable, and can be re-processed again into other plastic packs.

A Morrison’s spokespeson said: “These new ‘fresh to go’ salad bar packs are a quantum leap forward in our vision of a recyclable future - the investment from Sharp Interpack demonstrates their understanding of our needs and those of our customers. It is another example of their absolute commitment to the environment and we look forward to cementing our relationship and to the realisation of our vision of a waste-free environment.”
