Scottish grower members of Berry Gardens were out in force supporting the Marks & Spencer marquee at the Royal Highland Show on 23 - 26 June. Growers represented at the show were PJ Stirling, Murray Mitchell, AP Barrie & Co, Thomas Thomson Ltd., and Messrs. David McIntyre.

Visitors at the four-day event crowded to the stand to taste Driscoll Jubilee, Sonata and Elsanta strawberries and had to contend with showers as well as sunshine.

Andy Barrie of AP Barrie & Co said: “This year’s show has been very exciting and we have had great feedback from the visitors concerning the quality and taste of the latest strawberry crop.”

“Having direct contact with consumers is important in understanding the customers’ response to the care and attention we give the fruit. It proves our work is creating the best possible strawberries.”

Bumper Scottish production has ensured a plentiful supply of local fruit to regional retailers as well as helping meet increasing strawberry demand elsewhere in the UK.
