Soil's the clue for Macaulay Institute

Staff from Scotland’s Macaulay Institute have been promoting the benefits of soil as part of the Edinburgh international science festival.

The Aberdeen-based institute’s Dr Colin Campbell and Dr Lorna Dawson have been on hand to host fun, hands-on activities as part of the festival, which gives children north of the border inspiring experiences in science.

Among the activities were Campbell’s ‘Super Soils’ workshop, which looked at the science behind soil. It shows how vital soil is within nature and shows how it supports all life on land and affects water and the atmosphere.

Dawson also hosted a workshop entitled ‘Whodunnit? The Soil’s the Clue!’
