A UK produce firm has reported improved quality sprouts after a switch to under-leaf spraying.

Lancashire-based Huntapac Produce changed production methods in 2001 after taking delivery of a Chafer trailed sprayer with a Benest Technologies dropleg application system.

Brassica production manager Duncan Griffiths was delighted with progress.

He said: 'We were attracted to the system by the fact that it enables the chemical to be placed exactly where it is required, right down to the base of the plant, for maximum effect.'
