Former CCO at Fruitist joins leading Kent berry and cherry producer after eight months sailing around the world as part of a Clipper yacht crew
Former CCO at berry supplier Fruitist, Steve McVickers, has joined Kent producer WB Chambers as commercial director.
McVickers joins the Maidstone-based berry and cherry specialist following the departure of James Miller, who was recently named as new MD at fellow stonefruit producer Mansfields.
“Although I’ve only been with the business a short time, I’ve already experienced first-hand the resilience, energy and commitment it takes to deliver exceptional quality through one of the most challenging periods of UK growing weather,” McVickers said, sharing the news on LinkedIn.
“It’s reinforced why WB Chambers has earned such a strong reputation across the industry,” he added.
McVickers, who has previously worked at breeder Meiosis as well as his five-year tenure at Fruitist, has just completed an eight-month career break on board a Clipper round-the-world yacht crew.
He said the trip reminded him that “high-performing teams are built on a willingness to support one another when conditions are at their toughest”, adding that: “I’m excited to be joining a business that embodies those same qualities and to play my part in its next chapter.”
