Surface Specialties UCB has expanded its range of films for fresh produce.
PropaFresh (tm) PFAM is the company's latest development; the high gloss biaxally-orientated polypropylene (BOPP) film is supplied with integral anti-mist properties.
These properties prevent condensation building up in the pack of salad leaves and prepared vegetables, which can detract from its visual appeal.
PropaFresh(tm) is available in 30 and 35-micron thickness, which is heat sealable on both sides. The new film is the first of a planned range extension by Surface Specialties UCB's research and development teams. The company is also developing a range of breathable BOPP films for fruit and vegetables.
The unique films will allow gas exchange without the need for perforating the pack, maintaining a natural modified internal atmosphere. It will also extend shelf life due to the improved O2 and CO2 exchange.
