Talks proposed for UK walnut co-operative

Sarah Calcutt of SEC Consulting is working with a group of British walnut growers to establish a co-operative.

Growers are to meet next month with a supermarket contract potentially on the table.

Growers are “scoping the opportunity” to formalise the UK walnut trade. Calcutt said: “We are not aware of the total volume or number of growers and are gathering information with a view to creating a supply group.

"There is potential for a greater volume sale than can be supplied by our existing members and we want to hear from any interested parties.”
