In support of National Chip Week, Cambridgeshire-based potato supplier MBM Produce Ltd treated its entire staff at its March, Chatteris, Shrewsbury, Littleport, Coventry and Darlington packing sites to free chips at varying times during the week.

Run by the British Potato Council, National Chip Week is an annual celebration of the great British chip and runs this year from February 17-23.

With most people saying that they choose chips when they feel sensual or naughty, this year's theme is 'Love chips – go on, give in to the taste'. Contrary to popular belief, chips can be part of a healthy balanced diet with a portion of chips made with fresh potatoes giving a third of the recommended daily vitamin C intake.

Maris Piper is the chip shops' favorite potato variety and is used by 98 per cent of chip shops. MBM, the UK's leading supplier of potatoes, supplies UK Maris Piper not only to the retailers and processors but also to the chip shops under its 'Chippie's Choice' brands.
