BanaBay has secured its first major contract in Turkey.
From this month (September 2014), Veriso Ltd Sti is taking weekly deliveries of a 'significant quantity' of BanaBay’s premium Ecuadorian bananas, for an initial period of one year.
With operations in several locations including Mersin and Istanbul, Veriso is chiefly a citrus producer with more than 28 years' experience marketing its own ranges. Bananas account for 20 per cent of its fruit portfolio, and are prepared for market in the firm's on-site ripening facility.
Commenting on the new contract, BanaBay MD Mark O’Sullivan, said: “We are pleased to have secured this contract with one of Turkey’s oldest and biggest importers; like BanaBay they are committed to ensure the finest quality of fruit for customers through overseeing the ripening process and there are many other synergies that make us strong partners.
'Turkey is a new country for the BanaBay brand and represents further growth in the Middle East. We are making strong headway in this region and are very excited about working closely with our new partner in our joint development plans.”
Veriso president Hakan Bilal Kutlualp, added: “There is high demand for bananas in Turkey and we need to offer our customers a reliable and efficient service. We were very impressed with the way BanaBay responded to our initial enquiry and met with us personally. We look forward to working in close partnership to develop our market share going forward”.
