Uruguayan growers and exporters exhibited at Fruit Logistica for the first time this year to boost the market for its 50 per cent increase in blueberry production forecast for this year.
Representatives from producers’ and exporters’ union Upefruy and blueberry producers’ association Uproa made the journey to Berlin to promote the South American country’s blueberries.
Around 30 per cent of the total production of 2,000 tonnes will be exported to the UK/
Uproa director Pedro Dondo told FPJ: “This is the initial footstep for us; we have to prepare for when our season starts because we do not know how the market will be.”
